The Process
There are several steps involved in the custom design process, to which we include you in every step of the way. From concept to finished piece you get to be involved in making and re-designing the jewellery piece of your dreams. From hand selecting the perfect stones to customizing settings, metals and details, it is sure to be a memorable experience with us!
Whether you are looking to create something completely new or redesign an existing piece, our talented goldsmiths and design team work closely with you to make it come to life. We can work from a sketch, photo or description.
The first step is to come by the store and start discussing your ideas with us. We provide free custom design consultations, where we discuss your ideas, input our own and provide an estimate. This consultation is just to get the ideas flowing and you have no obligation to go ahead with the design.
Once we settle on a design, we ask you put a deposit for approximately half of the cost to get the project rolling. We then render a 3D CAD image of the custom piece with all the correct dimensions. From this image you can still make changes.
Once the image is finalized and approved by you we print a resin mold. You can try this mold on, place the loose stones in the settings and really start to imagine what the finished piece will look like. At this point, changes can still be made, but keep in mind if multiple changes are made then there are additional costs.
Once the mold is approved by you, we cast the ring and have our goldsmiths set the stones, finish, clean & polish the custom piece. Shortly after, you'll have the finished piece in your hands! Each handcrafted piece is made by our talented goldsmiths who have over 30 years experience and have the finest craftmanship. All of the gemstones we carry are responsibly sourced and we only use quality materials towards crafting your ring. We do our very best to accommodate any requests you have and are confident you will love any custom piece we make for you.

We would suggest booking an appointment to meet with one of our designers. however, you can stop by any time with questions and any of our staff can assist in answering them.
IS THERE ANYTHING I SHOULD DO BEFORE I COME IN?
Browse Pinterest and Instagram for style inspiration for your new piece! Pictures help us give you a better customization. Also, consider bringing in any unused gold pieces or jewellery, so they can be incorporated into the design or used for credit.
CAN I USE MY OWN STONES?
We can repurpose old jewellery by incorporating existing gemstones. You can use your own stones for sentimental reasons or as a cost effective option. Using your own stones can be risky as they may have existing cracks or flaws. You can also choose from our variety of quality guaranteed stones.
CAN I USE MY OWN GOLD?
Bring in old gold for sentimental value or trade it in as credit for a cost-effective option. Using your own gold may be challenging as it requires working with unknown alloys, necessitating the goldsmith to melt, shape, and finish it for the new piece.
WHAT IF, AFTER I SEE THE 3D MODEL, I WANT TO MAKE CHANGES TO IT?
Minor design changes are covered in the fees. Complete alterations or new concepts incur additional costs based on the complexity and changes to metal weights.
WHAT IF I DON'T LIKE THE FINISHED PIECE?
After receiving your approval at each stage, including hand drawn sketches, computer renderings, and /or a wax model, we proceed with the finished design. Any changes beyond that point will involve additional costs.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET A CUSTOM RING MADE?
Typically the whole process takes about 2 months, but we are happy to work on your timeline. Just let us know the deadline when we start the process and we will do our best to meet it!
WHAT IS THE AVERAGE COST OF CUSTOM DESIGNING A RING?
Custom piece timelines and costs vary based on factors like metal weight, gold karat and design intricacy among others.
